Hungry 11/22/2008

Brrr.  Just like that, it's winter here on the farm.  Gone are the 50 degree days during which I managed to fool myself into believing that the whole winter would be that warm.

I don't know about you, but when it gets cold outside and the days get shorter and darker, I get hungry.  Feed me banana bread.  Or the last salad of the year with the last of the lettuce and tomatoes.

But I'm not the only one who is hungry.  Poor goats, waiting for their breakfast in the snow.

Speaking of breakfast, this morning Max and Natalie missed our usual Saturday morning feast of pancakes (and a mushroom and cheese omelet for Mom) because they were staked out in the woods, waiting for deer.  Yes, deer hunting season is upon us!  Of course, we keep our freezers stocked with plenty of our wonderful chickens and flavorful goat meat, but it sure is a luxury to have venison in the freezer, too!

Here's my 15 year old hunter.  Color me proud.

    Who's that?

Much of the blame belongs to me,  Alison.  I am:  Wife to 1 man, Mom to 10 kids, and Farmer to a great many critters.
